Sacred Settlement Mosaic

A full community approach to addressing the root causes of chronic homelessness.

Come and see!

Our tiny home community, Sacred Settlement Mosaic, is part of a growing effort to use church properties to address the root causes of chronic homelessness. We have partnered with another organization, Settled, and a half-dozen other churches from different denominations to provide more than just housing — we offer a way of life.

The Basics

There are six tiny homes at Sacred Settlement Mosaic. Four are for people who have experienced chronic homelessness and the catastrophic loss of family. Two homes are for people who haven't experienced homelessness but desire to be an intentional family with everyone in the tiny home community.

For more information on the full community model and a movement to use religious land for tiny homes, visit Settled.org. If you're interested in learning more about Sacred Settlement Mosaic, or want to partner with us in our efforts, please email us at sacredsettlementmosaic [at] grmail [dot] com.

five key elements

  • Intentional neighbors: People who willingly change their lifestyle to live life alongside formerly homeless neighbors

  • Permanent homes: Small, simple homes are gathered together to provide safety and help promote community

  • Cultivated places: The homes are placed on religious land that is carefully adapted to meet the needs of the community

  • Purposeful work: Everyone in the community shares in the labor and is compensated fairly for their work

  • Supportive friends: Each person has one or more helpers to navigate services and to be supported with friendships

Why mosaic?

We are a neighborhood church and our staff lives here. Our kids play here. Our hope is that more people, more families, can live and thrive here.

Our mission is to mobilize and equip the community of Christ into a lifestyle of hospitality. We believe the role of the church, both here in St. Paul and across the world, is to lift up people who our systems and cultures have pushed down. This includes the homeless. We want to welcome strangers, invite them to be guests and equip them to be hosts. Settled’s full community approach relies on a network of people and churches to lift up, work with and equip all the people living in Sacred Settlement Mosaic.

The people coming out of homelessness already have a relationship with Settled. Community members want to live peaceful, abundant lives like everyone else.
