Our Story
Mosaic Christian Community, a ministry of the Church of the Nazarene, exists to mobilize and equip the community of Christ into a lifestyle of hospitality. We are dedicated to joining with God and our neighbors in making the East Side a safe, peaceful, loving community.
It all started when…
Mosaic Christian Community joined the East Side neighborhood in 2013 with the intention of being a resource center, connecting neighbors with one another and with services throughout the city.
For 75 years, the building at 540 E. Wheelock Parkway was home to the First Church of the Nazarene. When Pastor Jeff O’Rourke, his wife, Jessica, and their three boys were looking to launch a multi-ethnic ministry in St. Paul, the building, situated in a diverse neighborhood, became a perfect match.
Since those first years of learning more about the neighborhood, Mosaic has grown to reflect its surrounding population: A group of people from all different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, representing many generations, with different educational and economical experiences — all coming together to love one another and serve our neighbors.
